Basket Crazies

Wow, I can't believe it has been a month since I posted a thing!  One would think I would have tons to show you since surely I have been sewing like crazy.  I've been working on a few small things and am thrilled to actually get one bigger project finished!

A couple of years ago our quilt guild had a workshop using a Buggy Barn pattern called Basket Crazies.  I have a couple of Buggy Barn patterns in my pattern stash just waiting for me but somehow they never seem to make the cut.  So why not take the class and learn their technique so those patterns in waiting move up the list!

I am really pleased with my quilt and really love the colors.  I pulled everything from my stash and some of the fabrics had been there for years and years and worked out perfectly for this quilt.  After the top was finished it was put away to age properly before it was quilted.  Properly aging a quilt top?  Visit Nan from Pots and Pins and learn all about aging quilt tops, get great recipes, and just have a good laugh.  Here is Nan's post on aging quilts from Sew We Quilt.  My aged quilt top turned into a lovely quilt.

I did have a few hiccups along the way with this quilt.  How many times will it take before I learn to check the backing fabric when I quilt near the edge?

It happens more times than I would like to admit.  And then there is always a helper cat along the way so that I have to spend a lot of time adjusting the cat so I can quilt.  Hey, maybe that's the reason the backing fabric gets caught up under the quilt--LOL.

Coconut is a recent addition to our household and she is a fast learner.

One UFO finished and ready for our guild's quilt show in July--woohoo!  Now off to work on a few more items for the show.

Cheers,

Debi
