My Favorite Quilt Show!

Anyone who knows me will not be surprised to learn that I love the Quilts on Pets quilt show.  In support of Padsworth's Project and Lilypad Quilting I thought I would share a little about my foster cat Smokey.

Smokey was a stray who found himself in a high-kill shelter a couple of weeks ago where he was scheduled to be euthanized because he was older, had some missing teeth, and an "odd" tail.  Lucky for Smokey he had a shelter angel who thought he was very special and sought out the help of a rescue.  His second angel came in the form of a rescue that was willing to take a chance on such a sweet boy.

It turns out Smokey is super loving, purrs up a storm, kneads like there is no tomorrow, and is just one heck of a wonderful cat.  Oh, his tail is a bit shorter than the average kitty tail and it has a kink in it which is a recessive gene in the Siamese cat.  You see Smokey is a Blue-Point Balinese which is a medium/long-haired Siamese.

Smokey is a snuggle-bunny and what could be more appropriate than a Siamese cat quilt to snuggle up with.  Here is checking out my Temple Guardians quilt which is a Story Quilts pattern.

Smoky is just learning all about cats and quilts and it's a good thing Buffy and Mittens, also former shelter kitties, know all about being a supervisor when it comes to quilting.

I entered my Temple Guardians quilt in our guild's quilt show last month and it ended up taking third place in its category.  The visitors to our show voted on the quilts and I thought is was wonderful they liked my quilt.

Now here is the funny part about my quilt.  After it was pieced together and right before I started to machine quilt it I noticed I had put the blocks together in the opposite order from the pattern.  Oh well, no big deal, but wait there's more.  While the quilt was hanging in the quilt show I noticed one of my blocks was upside down--LOL!!!  Thankfully, it is the block with the kitty curled up so it's not that noticeable, but it sure made me chuckle.

If you are in the Central Ohio area and an interested in learning more about Smokey (aka Bali), please visit Persian Purebred Purrbaby Rescue to learn more about him.

Green Beans and a Show

Well there hasn't been much quilting going on around here as it has been a very busy month.  I have several projects in various stages that need attention but instead I have been spending any free time canning beans.  Fresh from the garden!

I need to find a little time soon so I can join the linky party for the Pets on Quilts 2013 and once everyone is linked up it is always great fun to see everyone's pets and quilts.  I hope you'll visit the show.

Cheers!
