OMG December Stars

My goal for December was a small one and was to finish up some star ornaments.  One group of ornaments were for my niece who is dealing with a series illness. The second group was for our quilt guild as they collected ornaments for the County Home and I made a few stars for that project.  I met my goals!

Since it is New Year's Eve I plan on spending the day in my sewing room contemplating what to work on next--I have a ton of projects that need attention.  In the meantime, I am linking up with Patty at Elm Street Quilts December Finish-up

Happy New Year's Everyone!

Seeing Stars

Tis the season for making Christmas ornaments and I have been making stars.  I made about 20 ornaments for craft shows for Snack, a cat spay/neuter and TNR group. My goal this month is to finish up three of the six ornaments I still need to make for other folks. Here are the three that I have completed.

Let's see what everyone else is working on this month at Elm Street Quilts.

November OMG Finish

Goodness, I am really enjoying getting some things done!  I have a lot to do so if I can keep this momentum going it would be great.

My OMG for November was to get Celtic Solstice bound.  I made it!  And not only that, I got that silly little Christmas pillow done too; although I had meant to bind it and for some reason I just sewed the sides together.  Oh well.

Here are my November finishes.

I am not sure what project I plan to work on next but I hope to find something smallish like maybe actually put a label on Celtic Solstice.  Nah, that would be too easy.

Thanks to Patty at Elm Street Quilts for hosting this event every month.  Why not see what everyone else is up to at Elm Street Quilts November Finishes.

November OMG!

Looks like I am going to get to binge watch something on Netflix this month since I will be binding Celtic Solstice.  I love to bind and enjoy Netflix so it is a win for me.

OMG October Finish Link-Up

I made it!  It has been a month of doing everything at the last minute but it all got done.  My flag quilt was delivered to my dad the weekend he went on his Honor Flight.  What an amazing trip for my dad and what an amazing organization.

Here is the finished quilt.
A close-up of a block and the beautiful job Michele did long-arming it in record time.
And in an instant Red went from sound to sleep in a chair to lounging on the quilt as I tried to work on it.
I am linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal October Finish, again, at the last minute.  Whew, this month flew by!

October Monthly Goal

My goal this month is to make a lap quilt for my dad as it is one of those last minute projects for a special event. My dad will be going on an Honor Flight mid-October and found out just a couple of weeks ago.  I wanted to make a quilt for him and started searching for patterns.  Then I remembered a quilt I had seen at Podunk Pretties and decided it was the one I wanted to make.  I have one block made and need to get the top together, get it to my quilter who I hope can do something in a short amount of time, and then bind it.  Whew, it is going to be a busy month!

Plus I have several obstacles in my way. Cutting? Maybe later.
And you think you want to sew? Maybe later.

Since I seem to have spare time and can't cut or sew I am linking up with Elm Street Quilts-One Monthly Goal.

September Finish Link Up

Well I made half of my goal and I am pretty happy I made it that far.  I selected this project to finish because it was small and I thought I could quilt it and make a pillow. It was not meant to be as it ended up being a busy month and then I came down with the crud which sapped me for two weeks.

Here is what I did get done--it is quilted!  Not sure if it will become a pillow or just a small wall hanging.  My project is destined as a donation for a craft show in November so there is still plenty of time.

OMG September Goal

Christmas again!  My one monthly goal has to be something small as it is a busy month for me.  I decided on finishing up this pillow as it needs quilting (surprise!) and finished.

Two Finishes in a Row!

I made it--doing the happy dance! I am linking up with One-Monthly-Goal-August-Finish-Link-Up today and in a couple of days I will be linking up for my next project.

Christmas will be a bit brighter this year since I finished my Candy Cane wall hanging. My goal was to get it quilted and bound.  Of course what quilting project for me wouldn't be complete without ripping out tons of stitches.  Yep, I wasn't at all happy with the quality of my quilting so out it came.  Most of my quilting is done on a 15" sit-down Bailey Home Quilter and it does a great job when the operator, me, has everything adjusted.  Plus you really do have to practice, LOL!
It is a good thing I have an outdoor bunny enclosure for my house buns as it doubles as a quilt display for photos.

Meet Bella, today she is enjoying a bit of the out-of-doors since it is a little cooler and cloudy.
Red was also quite helpful in the quilting process.  Hmmmm, maybe it isn't me that makes the stitches look so bad and it is the fact that I am constantly adjusting Red as I quilt.  Nah.

Looking forward to next month!

Debi

OMG--Christmas in August?

Wow, I can hardly believe a month has gone by and it is time to grab a project for Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal August Linkup.  I should have grabbed this project last month so I could have had Christmas in July.

I will be working on a wall hanging that I started last year and had planned on having it done for Christmas but that didn't happen.  The pattern is Candy Cane from Country Threads.
I decided I didn't want to try to applique the two colors and found a stripe I really liked.  I had to chuckle when a friend of mine was surprised with my color choice of pink and bright green.  I know it isn't the traditional Christmas colors but it goes well with my pink Christmas tree.
My goal this month is to finish machine quilting and bind my quilt.  I see a theme here as I seem to have quite a few projects that never quite get to the machine quilting part.  Thank goodness for OMG!

Visit Elm Street Quilts OMG August Goal to see what everyone else is up to. Sorry my link doesn't show up in a bright/different color but I have no idea why I can't seem to get it changed to another color.

One Monthly Goal July Finish Party

I actually completed my monthly goal and it was so rewarding!  I finished machine quilting wavy lines on my Union Jack Quilt and bound it.

Here is my finished quilt.
Here is a close-up of my wavy quilting.  I had a few hiccups with the lines but not bad for my first attempt at waves.

By the way, it is the white fabric that I am not wild about as it is a white on white cat fabric and those cats are pretty big and harder to quilt through.  I hate hearing my needle punch through it.

Of course I had help with the process.

My participation in One Monthly Goal was a huge success.

Visit Elm Street Quilts-One Monthly Goal July Finish to see what everyone else completed.  Now on to next month's project.

One Monthly Goal

Wow, it has been a long time since I have shared anything.  To help me get things moving along I thought I would participate in One Monthly Goal hosted by Elm Street Quilts OMG July

I made this Union Jack quilt to try out a pattern from Lily's Quilts in 2012 and it has sat since then. I don't like the fabrics I used and I think that is why it has sat for so long.  My plan is to finish the curvy line quilting and get it bound by the end of the month!

See you at the end of July!

Cheers,

Debi
