These Boots Are Made for Walking

My one monthly goal was to make a few more boots and I met that goal.  I ended up making all of the boots and added the sashing.  Now I just have to add the border and it will be ready to send off for quilting.  My niece is having surgery mid-February and I hope I can get it back, bound and shipped before the end of February.

Here is one of my favorite blocks.

I think you can see why.  And the yellow fabric in this block was purchased in Paris several years ago and I am happy to be able to use it in this quilt.

Perhaps when it is finished I will be able to get outside to take a photo but today it is just too cold thanks to the polar vortex!

Too cold outside to play?  Why not hop on over to Elm Street Quilts and join in the fun of One Monthly Goal.

Cheers,

OMG January Texas Two Step

Family holiday obligations are finally over and I can get back to some sewing.  I really didn't want to start a new project, but I am. My goal for January is going to be to make more boots for a lap quilt for my niece and I am using a pattern from Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting, July/August 2015.
I made one block and had to really work on the heel that is paper pieced.  I am not a huge fan of paper piecing and for the life of me I kept piecing it wrong.  Two little pieces!  Finally got it right and if I don't wait too long I should be able to get it done.

My plans for today don't include any boots but they do include linking up with Patty at Elm Street Quilts.  Check back at the end of the month to see if I met my goal as well as all of the other folks linking up as well.

Cheers!
