An Opportunity Quilt

A few months ago I posted a photo of a block I made for our quilt guild's opportunity quilt for 2013.  At our meeting on Monday the completed quilt was shown to the guild.  The block I made actually made it into the quilt which was very nice especially since there were many blocks completed and turned in.  I attempted a quick photo of the quilt while it was laying on a table with a crowd of people around it so the photo isn't that great but you get the idea.

Now look way in the back, upper right hand corner and use your magnifying glass where you'll find my block.  I believe my block is called Hour Glass III and it was one of the easier blocks to do.

I'm taking a break from Easy Street this week but hope to get back to it in a few days.  I also need to get started on my challenge piece for the quilt guild as well.  So much to do and so little time!

Cheers!

Really Slow Progress

Wow, Easy Street sure does take time to assemble and I'm getting there slowly but surely.  I did check the linky party on Easy Street and was amazed at the beautiful tops that were completed in a rainbow of colors.  I know I won't be able to leave comments on all of the blogs because I'll never get my top completed if I do, so I want to take a moment to let everyone know how beautiful their quilts are.

So far, I have completed the corners, setting triangles, 6 of Block A and 4 of Block B.   Once the blocks are done I'll start sewing rows together and I hope to have that done this weekend--fingers crossed!   Here are a few of the bits and bobs that are done.

Next I have to start thinking about borders.  There has been a lot of discussion on borders on the Quiltville yahoo group and I am leaning towards a piano key border using the teal/turquoise prints I have left over; however, I will most likely need to add quite few to make it around the entire quilt.  I'll worry about that later as I've just go too much sewing to do right now in order to get the top done.

Snowflake decided she needed to get in on Easy Street and moved off her heated pad onto some of the blocks I had completed.  Snowflake is one of my senior kitties that was recently diagnosed with kidney failure so it is nice to see she still wants to help out even if she wouldn't smile for the camera.

Working on this mystery has been a blast and I have enjoyed each and every minute as I have learned so much and will have a top completed in record time for a slow poke like me.  I want to thank Bonnie for her incredible generosity in providing so many wonderful patterns for all of us to work on.  I don't know how she does it and I secretly I think she is the energizer bunny in disguise.

You can still find the pattern for Easy Street on Bonnie's blog site so check HERE to visit.

Cheers!

Slow Going and a Coin Purse

On New Year's Day Bonnie posted the "big reveal" of Easy Street and I love it!  I am still cutting and sewing as I got a little behind over the holidays.  I should have something to post for the linky party on Monday and it will be so exciting to see what everyone has done.

I can hardly believe it, but once again I made another coin purse and it went together without any hitches.  The little sheep purse went to my friend Amy who used to have sheep.  Amy makes beautiful things with wool and she sent me something wonderful this year as well.  I will have to get photos of what she sent and show everyone but for now it's back to Easy Street.

Cheers,
