It has been so long since I've logged on to my blog I forgot my password! I suppose I should do a little more sewing and posting so that doesn't happen again. I haven't been doing hardly any sewing but did finish up a couple of orphan blocks from a group raffle quilt that was made last year. The raffle quilt:
And the orphan block pillows:
The pillows ended up taking so much longer to make than they should have as I kept making mistakes--so much for trying to hurry! The pillows are items for a craft show for Spay and Neuter Abandoned Cats & Kittens, Inc.

Cat on Quilt--Sewing Supervisor
Woohoo! It's time once again for the Pets on Quilts quilt show hosted by Lilypad Quilting. My entry this year, as in most years, is in the cat on quilt category.
Red joined our household late last year and has learned to love and appreciate quilts and the quilting process in no time.
Supervising the cutting of fabric.
Helping with the trimming of stray threads from the back of a quilt top.
Hmmmm, stray threads trimmed but now where is the sticky tape to remove cat hair?
Learning how to clean, adjust, and sew on a child's sewing machine.
What a great little helper!
Cheers,
Debi

Repurposed Bag
In 2012 I took a trip to London and picked up this cute little muslin bag at Cath Kidson. 2012 was the Queen's Jubilee so the bag was sold in celebration of this event.
When I purchased the bag I thought I would never use it because it most likely wouldn't hold up very well with a lot of use. The little bag sat in a closet aging until a few weeks ago when I decided to take it apart and make pillows.
They turned out really cute and the best part is I get one and the other goes to my travel friend.
I guess you can probably tell where I am planning to go next LOL!
Cheers,
Debi

Pets On Quilts Show 2015
Lilypad Quilting will once again be hosting the Pets on Quilts Show in August. I hope to participate this year as long as the cats strike a pose.
I have tried and tried to post this cute little badge on my blog for the pet show but for some reason nothing seems to be working:( My link color has also changed for some unknown reason. Perhaps it is because I haven't been on blogger for awhile and things have changed and I have forgotten how to do things.
Cheers,

Village Quilt Show
Our little village had a quilters market and quilt show on Saturday. It was very small but had a nice little "flea" market of items for quilters.
Here are a couple of quilts that made use of show ribbons.
And a hankie quilt.
These were just a few that I thought were a little different than the typical quilts at a show.
Cheers,
Debi

Pineapple Crazy?
Well I am not crazy about paper-piecing and making little 3" paper-pieced pineapple blocks leaves a lot to be desired in my book. But, oh my! They look so cute all laid out together. These little blocks are for a guild project and will not be made into a quilt.
I may not be crazy for pineapples, but I am sure crazy for Coconut!
Cheers on an absolutely beautiful Saturday!

This and That
I really haven't been doing much quilting here lately. I have a few projects for other people/groups/guild that I have to get done in the next month or so and then I hope to get back to working on a few of my own things.
I decided not to do continue on with Bonnie Hunter's Grand Illusion mystery as I wasn't that wild about the pattern in the end. Here is what I ended up with--a cat quilt to lay on a dining room chair. The cats love it and I am happy I made a small quilt with what I actually had completed.
A few other distractions--4" basket blocks.
From Quiltmaker's Bitty Block challenge. A block of the month row quilt and the baskets blocks were for February.
Some time ago I ordered Victory Garden from Busy Bee Designs as I just love Union Jacks. I finally got around to playing with the pattern\ and made a couple of blocks using a pansy fabric I have had for ages. I hope to play some more and end up with a lap quilt.
I made a friend some placemats using Victory Garden and her favorite colors, peach and green. Here they are laying on her kitchen table before I quilted them.
A finished placemat.
We have plans to go to the UK next year and I thought the placemats would get her in the mood for the trip. I know I'm ready right now! In fact, a year ago I was in Paris and I can hardly stand waiting another year for a fabulous trip.
Finally, something not quilting-related. A friend posted some cute Easter deviled eggs on Facebook recently and I decided to give it a go. It was such fun and brought back childhood memories of coloring eggs. It was a spur of the moment thing so don't expect great things LOL. First, here are a few chickens that produce the eggs.
Combine 1/2 cup water with 1 tablespoon cider vinegar then add a few drops of food coloring and add the cooked egg white. Soak until you get the desired color.
I know the egg whites are a little rough, but they are fresh eggs and incredibly hard to peel as that little membrane just won't let go of the egg. They look fine once they are filled though and no one really notices their rough edges.
Interesting observation--my dad selected a "regular" white egg when they were served and naturally I went for one of the brightly colored ones!

Grand Illusion Progress?
Today is the last day to link up with Bonnie at Quiltville and the all of those who worked on Grand Illusion. I haven't made hardly any progress since I first started the mystery. I have quite a few of one part done and none of most of the others. However, I did get around to making at least one block.
I like the pattern Bonnie created for our mystery, but I am not sure if or when I will get back to working on it because I keep getting distracted.
Fellow quilt guild member, Jeanne from Pinehurst Projects, happened to mention Bonnie's Wild & Goosey blocks that were showing up on Facebook and of course I had to search the pattern out. Naturally I had the magazine that the pattern was published in at one time; however, it was the same issue with Lazy Sunday and since I purchased Bonnie's book that had Lazy Sunday in it I no longer needed the issue. Or so I thought! Thank goodness Wild & Goosey is available online so I could at least give it a try.
Paper-piecing is not my favorite thing so I am not sure how many of these cute little blocks I will make. These particular blocks were made using bits and pieces I had stored in my "maybe I'll be able to use these pieces for something someday" box.
While I was making the UK inspired blocks I thought about the spool blocks that I had started awhile back and wanted to be sure to make a few blocks from the UK fabric as well. There was barely any fabric left so I was lucky to have a little to make a couple of spool blocks.
Hmmm, I really love making those spool blocks. I fell in love with the Bonnie's pattern Spoolin' Around from the book More Leaders and Enders and am determined to make a quilt from that particular pattern.
Before the holidays I had started working on a turquoise and black and white Pineapple Blossom and did get the top finished after the holidays. Not much progress on it though until this weekend when I was able to measure and sew the backing together on my vintage Singer 301 which I recently picked up at my local Volunteers of America for a mere $40.
Goodness I sure enjoyed going vintage and I am determined to take the time to do so every now and then.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my little distracted sewing world. I do read your comments even though I don't always get around to thanking you individually which is my bad.
Cheers!
