Happy Valentine's Day!

In honor of Valentine's Day I thought I would share a paper-pieced rose I made a couple of weeks ago.  It is a practice piece and I'm not sure if I'll make any more, but it turned out fairly well.

If you would like to see more Valentine's Day projects you may want to visit Sew We Quilt for the Hugs and Kisses Blog Hop.

Cheers!

J'adore Paris

A few years ago I made a snowball quilt for my good friend Maria using Paris-themed fabrics. When the quilt was finished  I was happy with it but something was missing.  I had wanted to applique a tall black cat on it and I actually have a pattern that would be purrfect but when push came to shove I couldn't find it anywhere.  I then thought about an Eiffel Tower and had a hard time finding anything that would work so in the end I didn't applique anything at all.

Fast forward a couple of years and sure enough I have found a large Eiffel Tower.   Ooh La La was exactly what I had been searching for and now I could add an Eiffel to her quilt.  What?  Applique a large design on a finished quilt?   Sure, why not?  Well it had it's challenges but all in all it turned out.  Maria will be getting her quilt returned to her this weekend and I have my fingers crossed she still likes her quilt.

Working on the Eiffel Tower reminded me that I can't wait to get back to the City of Lights!

A Big Whoops!

Well doesn't it just figure, post a photo of a finished top and then notice a whoopsie.  One stinking little four-patch turned the wrong way on my Easy Street.  Well, there could be more, but I'm not going to look that closely--LOL!  What are the odds that the corner I picked to photograph had the mistake--I don't have a clue as I didn't do that well in statistics:(  So, I'm going to post a photo of the whole quilt top so the mistake isn't as noticeable.

Well now I feel much better and on the positive side my flying geese that have chopped off beaks will have company with a wonky four-patch.  Now I have a designer East Street--LOL!!!

Easy Street Top Finished

Yippee, I finally got the borders of Easy Street on yesterday!  It seemed like it took me forever to get all the pieces and parts of this quilt top together but I am so thrilled it is finally finished.  Overall, it didn't turn out too bad although a few flying geese have issues but the quilt is so busy I am hoping most folks won't notice.  Normally I try to quilt most of my stuff myself, but this quilt is so large and I really would like to get it done sometime soon so I am taking it to a long-arm quilter next week.   The finished top measures somewhere around 99" square and I really didn't have anywhere in the house to take a photo so I went outside this morning while everything was still frozen and took a photo.  The top needs pressing so mind the wrinkles.

I had so much help when I was trying to work on the borders which really slowed down much of my progress.  Twinkie could hardly stand it when I laid the top out on the floor and had to run and slide across it.  I really wish I would have had a video going when he was "playing" on the top because he was having a ball.

Twinkie was not out done by the black cats, Shadow and Zippy, as they had to get in on the action when I was trying to measure the top which was quite frustrating for me, but not them.

I had so much fun working on this quilt and as you can see my cats did too.

I would like to thank Bonnie Hunter for being so generous with her time and patterns and I hope she knows how much we all appreciate all she does for quilters.

Cheers,
